11 years of us

Here is to the 11 years of us, and to the many more to come!!

When shopping for fish at the Saidapet Fish Market, we made a pit stop at Mari Hotel for their famous Vada Curry.

Needless to say, the Vada Curry was excellent. But their Dosai there was even better than that. A well fermented batter, spread thin enough to crisp and yet thick enough to have a bite!! A must try if you are around the area.

While the plan was to go to a different restaurant for her birthday, The Missus switched her mind on seeing the name — Nasi Kandar Pelita. And what a serendipitous find it turned out to be.

The place serves #Malaysian, Chinese and North Indian, but stick to just Malaysian items on the menu. Lots of folks dining there, knew their way through the menu. We just went by famous dishes and familiar names.

Loved their Paya Soup and Mutton Sambal Nasi Kandar (Malaysia version of set meals). The Dal Curry served with Roti Canai (Malaysian version of #Parotta) was my favorite of all the dishes.

Going by this experience, we may pay them a visit sometime soon :)

Kanakavalli Easily the most beautiful and elegant saree shop I’ve ever been to!

Last weekend in Pondicherry was stuffed with good food. This was the breakfast at @breadandchocolate_india. Highly recommend the place. Everything we had there were 👌!!

The Croissant 🥐 reminded us of the ones we had in Paris. Just so damn good. The Summer time Tartine (swipe right) was pure awesomeness of good #sourdough bread, toasted to perfection, spread with locally made Ricotta cheese and topped with 2 poached eggs!!

Thanks to kind friends like @rgokul (the buyer) and @aby_thachet (the courier) we get to enjoy such produce from South Tamil Nadu - Naatu Pazham and Srivilliputhur Puliyamarathadi Palkova 😍

After a few weeks of not eating out, stole a quick snack with The Missus last evening at the Amethyst.

The Chilli Cheese Crumpets though very nice with cheese and spice, was too doughy for our liking.

The scrumptious Raisin Scones on the other hand were absolutely awesome.

And what an ambience to sit and sip a pot of hot tea. Would soon be there for a full meal.

Finally after two weeks of rest with Chicken Pox, am glad to be back to meet the wonderful folks at work!

My mom got these wonderful ஓலை கொழுக்கட்டை(kind of Modak steamed inside palm leaves) made by my aunt. It brought back memories of my grandmother’s place and many of the festivities!!

Guess the Anna Centenary Library will be a part of our weekend plans for the foreseeable future ☺️ !!

Meeting after 17 years and the conversations continue as if we just left them a while ago! The only complain being I could spend just a few hours with them!!

And when we turned from that magical sunset at Cabo Da Roca, we got to see this gorgeous moonrise !!

The best sunset I’ve seen was at Cabo da Roca, which is the western most point of continental Europe.

The change in colors of the horizon from blue to yellow to pink to black in a span of few minutes was just magical!

One of the best places to have Indian Chinese is the Dine restaurant at Escape by @spicinemas! They never disappoint.

Pictured below are a simple Chicken Fried Rice and Pepper Prawns. Amazing flavours and total value for money!!

While we went to Abid’s to taste the Ramzan special of Haleem and NombuKanji , we missed it by 30 mins. The stock for the day got over. We ended up having Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, which was just OK.

The highlight of the evening was the Khubani Ka Meeta (Apricot compote) with fresh cream. Hands down the best I’ve had ever! It took care of all the disappointments of missing the Ramzan fare and some more :)

It has been a while that I posted any food pics and frankly there is a ton of backlog :)

Here are pics from the time we went to Absolute Thai in Teynampet. The food was just a good attempt and a bit too salty for our taste. The dishes we liked best were the complimentary salad ingredients bowl and the mince chicken stir fry!

Making lemonade out of lemons kinda day!!

This #Ramzan season has been filled with multiple #Haleem outings. I never expected #Chennai to serve so much Haleem.

While this might be blasphemous, and even I thought I would never say this, the best Haleem I’ve had this season is this Chicken Haleem, from Fisherman’s Fare. Just spot on and stands tall against the standard Mutton Haleem!

PS: I am back!! ;)
